A total of 51 Nigerian athletes have so far qualified for different competitive events at the forth-coming London 2012 Olympic Games.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued yesterday by Julius Ogunro, the Special Adviser to the Supervising Minister of Sports Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi.
A break down of the various events Nigeria has qualified to field athletes reveals that 21 female athletes have qualified for the track and field events while 17 males would join them. Other events which Nigeria has also qualified for include canoeing, taekwondo, swimming, wrestling and power-lifting, table tennis and paralympic table tennis.
