THE Police in Kaduna on Monday, said they detonated a kitbag which allegedly contained a suspected bomb kept by unknown persons at the residence of a former Kaduna South Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Auwalu Ali Tafoki in Tudun Wada, a suburb in Kaduna Metropolis.
Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Aminu Lawan, said in an interview that what the police discovered was bundles of water, electricity bills and other paper documents, which had been moved by the bomb expert for further probing.
According to Mallam Lawan, the Police Command was still waiting for the bomb experts to give their report before "we can say whether it contained any Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)".
However, it was gathered that the a suspected bomb kept inside the kit bag was discovered around 6 am by the owner of the house after he returned from the Morning Prayers at a nearby mosque.
Being suspicious of the content of the kit ,he immediately notified members of his family to vacate the house as he proceeded straight to Unguwar Sanusi Police station to inform securitymen of the strange bag.
