Security operatives in Bauchi State on Wednesday intercepted a Golf Volkswagen car loaded with explosives on the Gombe-Bauchi Road.
But the driver and other occupants of the car were said to have fled.
The Information Officer of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Mu'azu Haruna Juji, told news men that the interception was made possible as a result of the checkpoint mounted on the road by men of the Nigerian Army.
According to him, the boot of the car was left open, which fuelled the suspicion of the soldiers.
The spokesman of the Bauchi State Police Command, Hassan Mohammed, also confirmed the development but said he was yet to get the details.
Mohammed said: "We don't have details of the incident yet.
"Until when receive the details from the Alkaleri Divisional Police Officer, we cannot give you the details now."
