Gunmen kill state security officer in Borno

SUSPECTED gunmen of the Boko Haram sect on Monday in Maiduguri, shot and killed a senior personnel of the State Security Service (SSS) at a barbing salon in Abaganaram ward of the metropolis.

The assassination is coming a week after the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) offered a maximum of N1 million for any person that furnishes the police with credible intelligence on the sect's hideout or their secret armory.

Director of the SSS in charge of Borno state, Ahmed Abdullahi, also confirmed to The Guardian on telephone conservation, but could not provide details on how the officer was killed.

The killing brings to three the number of secret police operatives killed in the state.
