The Yobe state capital is under fire again
Reports from Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state say multiple blasts and gunshots are on going at Yanya area of the town.
Residents of the area say they are unsure what the attackers' targets are.
Today's attack is coming two days after the new National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki visited the state capital where he expressed the hope, according to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria, that the insurgency by members of the extremist Boko Haram sect would by curtailed before the commencement of the annual Ramadhan fasting scheduled to begin by the third week of July.
It is not yet clear if today's attack is being carried out by members of the sect which traditionally had orchestrated most of the raids on Damaturu.
Naija News was unable to confirm casualty figure at this point, and efforts to reach the state's police spokesperson were unsuccessful.
