KANO – Joint Military Task force raided the hideout of an Islamist
insurgent group at Hotoro general area of Kano municipality, Monday,
killing one of the leaders of the group, while two others were
arrested.
Sources revealed that the daylight operation involving several
infantry and counter terrorism officers was swift and ended within
half an hour. Vanguard could not ascertain the identity of the said
"top commander" killed during the operation as at time of filing this
report.
The Monday morning raid came on the heels of an attack by yet-to-be
identified gunmen at Hotoro area where a member of the National
Security and Civil Defense Corps, and his entire family were wiped
out.
Confirming the arrest , JTF spokesman in Kano, Lt. Ikediche Iweha
told Vanguard on phone that " we carried out a raid this morning
around Hotoro general area where we killed a member of a terrorist
group and arrested two during the operation"
Lt. Iweha however, did not disclose the identity of those killed and
arrested during the operation , adding that "we don't have their
nominal roll and can not say who was killed and arrested but
investigation would certainly revealed their identity."
