Explosion kills 4 Boko Haram suspects, says JTF

Spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State, Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Mohammed yesterday in a statement said an explosives-laden car had killed 4 suspected members of Boko Haram in Maiduguri.

"At about 3.30 pm yesterday (Friday), a car Honda CRV, with an improvised explosive device(s) exploded at Konnan-Yobe and by the side of Customs barrack at Gamboru respectively in Maiduguri. Four members of the Boko Haram sect died in the car bomb and an IED exploded while two members of the JTF sustained injuries," he said in the statement.

Hassan also said operatives of the JTF had tracked down some suspects who had been collecting money from some notable people in the state after issuing them death threats.

"The JTF wishes to remind the member of the public on dangers of allowing their premises to be used by the members of the sect as experienced yesterday afternoon.
"Similarly some group of hoodlums claiming to be members of the Boko Haram(who have been) sending SMS messages to respected persons in the society asking
for money or risk being killed, were  arrested yesterday (Thursday) while on their way for such money. The suspects are held with the JTF for further
investigation.

"Members of the public are advised to report all suspicious movements or such threatening calls to the JTF prompt action rather than responding to the request," the statement said.
