Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State has expelled 59 students for examination malpractice and certificate forgery, its Rector, Dr. Phillipa Idogho has said.
Idogho told the newsmen that the exercise was on-going and the institution was on course to stamp out all forms of malpractices.
"This exercise is not only a one-stop thing, that is why we always ensure that students are adequately prepared for their examinations and in return, we expect that they conduct themselves by not engaging in examination malpractice.
"We are also looking out for those who used forged certificates in gaining admission into the institution.
"We will continue to carry out certificate verification and like we have always done, anyone caught will be shown the way out and probably get prosecuted for forgery."
The rector also said that any member of staff who make "certain demands" to grade students, would be sanctioned.
"The Polytechnic frowns and takes serious exception to this development and will take prompt and decisive action against employees who make such demands on students."
The rector however, urged the students to be courageous to report cases of harassment. (NAN)
