BARELY a week after 12 traders were killed by suspected gunmen at the Maiduguri Monday Market (MAMM), unidentified gunmen on Thursday also shot and killed a trader at 12.45pm, forcing the authority of the market to hurriedly close the market to prevent further attacks and killings.
Confirming the attacks and killing in Maiduguri, the spokesman of Joint Task Force (JTF), Lt. Col Sagir Musa said: "it is
true one person was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the Monday market of Maiduguri city at about 12.45pm yesterday (Thursday)."
He said the market has been condoned off by JTF for search and the manhunt for the suspected assassins, including foot patrol of the market.
According to Musa; "to avoid stampede in the market, troops assisted traders to get out of the market, while efforts are being made to get the culprits."
On whether there were other casualties of the attack and killing, he said that no one was injured and no weapons were recovered, adding that no arrests has been made in the attack.
