UPDATE 5: From Benin City to Okada, accreditation of voters have been peaceful, so far. Voters have expressed satisfaction with the conduct of INEC officials. Timely arrival of INEC officials was recorded in many voting centres.
There is heavy presence of the military in Benin City. Other security agents also have heavy presence everywhere our reporters visited. In the outskirts, security presence is less, with every polling unit having a military post of at least two soldiers.
In addition to the stationed soldiers, the military is also using an helicopter for aerial coverage, while some detachments roam with military trucks.
Each polling unit also has two unarmed police officers.
There are speculations that members of the Oodua People's Congress, OPC, are discreetly present in some voting centre outside Benin City.
So far, there have not been any reported case of violence. However, in Iguobazuwa, some SUVs are patrol voting centres with their plate numbers detached and glasses tinted. The voters, say they are not moved and will protect their votes.
The Transtional Committee Council Chairman, in Ovia South-West Locol Government Council, Jonathan Igbinonwkhia, said the exercise has been orderly and peaceful in the area, as the people are determined to ensure continuity with the achievement of the incumbent administration in the state.
