Sokoto State Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Inuwa Idris has refuted claim that security agents in state have arrested members of the Boko Haram sect, saying there was no single member of the sect in prison or any detention facilities in the state.

Idris was apparently reacting to a threat issued by Abul-Qaqa, the spokesman of the Boko Haram at the weekend alleging that security agents have arrested their members in Sokoto and called for their immediate release.
The group also threatened deadly attacks over alleged clampdown on its members in the city just like it did in Kano where over 200 persons were killed in a wave of bombings recently.
"I'm not aware of any of Boko Haram members in detention in Sokoto State. And I'm not aware of the threat by the sect to attack our state," he said.
Efforts to contact the spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Elmustapha Sani, to speak on the issue were unsuccessful.
